Detailed Photo Requirements

1. Photo Dimensions

According to ICA Section 4.2, your passport photo must be exactly 35mm wide by 45mm high. The face (measured from chin to crown of head) must be between 25mm and 35mm, occupying approximately 70-80% of the photo height.

For digital submissions, the minimum resolution is 400 × 514 pixels. Higher resolutions are accepted as long as the aspect ratio is maintained.

2. Background Requirements

The background must be plain white with no patterns, shadows, or other objects. This ensures optimal contrast for facial recognition systems and consistent appearance across all identity documents.

3. Facial Expression

Maintain a neutral expression with your mouth closed. Eyes must be open and clearly visible. Both eyes should be at the same level, indicating that the head is not tilted.

4. Lighting

Lighting must be even across the face with:

• No shadows on the face or background
• No red-eye effects
• No reflection on glasses (if worn)
• Natural skin tones (no filters)
